On November 23, 2022, the European Union issued Directive EU (2022/2380) to supplement the relevant requirements of Directive 2014/53/EU on charging communication protocols, charging interfaces, and information to be provided to consumers. The directive requires that small and medium-sized portable electronic devices including mobile phones, tablet computers, and cameras must use USB-C as a single charging interface before 2024, and high-power-consuming devices such as laptops must also use USB-C as a single charging interface before 2026. Main charging port.
The range of products regulated by this directive:
- handheld mobile phone
- flat
- digital camera
- earphone
- Handheld Video Game Console
- Handheld Speaker
- e-book

The USB interface is widely used in various computer interface devices, tablet computers, mobile phones, and also in the LED lighting and fan industry and many other related applications. As the latest type of USB interface, USB Type-C has been accepted as one of the global connection standards, which can support the transmission of up to 240 W power supply voltage and high-throughput digital content. In view of this, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) adopted the USB-IF specification and published the IEC 62680 series of standards after 2016 to make the USB Type-C interface and related technologies easier to adopt globally.
